The FoodyPlast project main aim is to support the agri-food sector innovation effort in the field of plastic food packaging, throughout the France Spain border region, and more specifically in Aquitaine, Aragon, Euskadi and the Languedoc-Roussillon region.

The result will be the production of an innovative material (plastic food wrap), containing natural additives (some of them from local agriculture) with no migration or odour, and completely recyclable.clable.

The project will make it possible to:

1 Create a network of specialists in packaging and plastics on both sides of the Pyrénées, for local SMEs.

2 Develop an innovative packaging prototype that will add value to the products of small food companies of the POCTEFA area.

3 Evaluate an innovative technology to improve recycling of food packaging.


FoodyPlast is a 1.67 million euros, funded for 1.1 million euros by the European Community, within the framework of the POCTEFA program (Interreg Program V-A Spain-France-Andorra).

The project was 65% cofinanced by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER), in the framework of POCTEFA 2014-2020.

The aim of POCTEFA is to strengthen the economic and social integration of the Spain-France-Andorra border area. Its assistance focuses on the development of cross-border economic, social and environmental activities through joint strategies for lasting territorial development.
